Retrofit Mod4/18/2021
This is especially useful when tow hitch weight changes the rake of the truck, and causes the headlights to point at the sky.I set out to determine what it would take to retrofit my 2008, to include this cool new feature.
One thing to note is that Toyota tends to prewire their trucks for all the options. If you have a 2010 (without this feature) check first if you are pre-wired, in which case, you wont need most of the parts in the following list. Look for an unused triangular shaped 3-pin plug near each headlight If your truck is not pre-wired (or you have a pre-2010 2nd gen), youll need to make up your own wiring harnesses using the information in this thread. Retrofit Mod How To Make TheseAlso, note, this is not a step-by-step on how to make these harnesses. One could argue (and I do) that if you are not able to read a wiring diagram and perform basic electrical work, then this mod would be best left up to someone with the appropriate skill-set. With all that said, here are the parts you will need. C010 switch x1 811100C070 headlamp assembly (RH) x1 811500C070 headlamp assembly (LH) x1 With all of these parts in hand, youll need to make up a wiring harness that runs from the switch on the dash, out to the headlights, referencing the following diagram. Note: looking at the following diagram, you can just tie pin 4 of the switch to ground. Depending on where you mount the control, you can pick up illum. ![]() I actually had a small issue, the seller sent me a harness with two female connectors. The language barrier kept causing us issues, but he finally shipped the right harness after about 3 months. I lost interest in it at that point, but maybe someday I will get around to it. Im about to tear into my 66 Mustang so I have my hands full for the time being. But I have an 08 so need this harness or after corona, maybe ask bobeast (and offer to pay) for help.
